Yeah that sounds good, would prefer to remain anon if its going massive as my uncle is a copper and we've had fall outs before over this kind of stuff!!
If however it reduces the credibility I will be named.
don't worry about that - i'm a well practised editor!! A wee bit of background would be great, and, as i said - any pictures
completely understand about the family stuff - my wife is a midwife and we have lots of friends in the medical profession - everyone has to be so careful about what they say in public
Yeah good stuff, Ok background; I live 7miles by road but about 3 as the crow flies from the Barton moss camp site,
Id been looking at the progress of the campaign and after initially being quite critical of the manner people were purely slating the gmp I got past that and actually was criticised at one point 'Why don't you come down and see for yourself what it's like and then maybe you will understand a little better...'
So eventually I did,
I met a gentleman who walked me up to the guarded front gates of the Igas site and have me some background on everything that's been going on. I then spoke to the officers guarding the gate (at which point the other gentleman walked off back to camp) and heard their side of the story, and what seemed like a very rehearsed set of responses.
I continued back to the tea house and was greeted and offered a cup of tea,
I pulled out the goodies I had brough which were very well received;
4lt water, Milk, cranberry juice, Soya milk fir the vegans, rich tea and shortcake biscuits, Belvita breakfast bars, noodles, peanuts, plasters, bandages, a hypothermia wrap and a reflective hi visibility vest....
Duane - it would be easier to e-mail me the story - timbastable@gmail.com - it's cuts off after "hi vis vest"
There was quite a bit of attention based around the two amenity sheds and I was informed by Colin Ives it was going to be searched for locking on equipment, and another gentleman said there was a flare gun fired a few weeks back and the police had suspected it was going to be there, even though it was adamantly denied by all the protesters. The truck then left the Igas site and I began the story from then onwards.
That's your lot right there matey!!!
I cut the story off intentionally mate there is no character limit on fb messages as far as I'm aware
no probs - just thought it might be easy to send an attachment or post whole sale by e-mail I hate fb messinger!!
LOL - well - e-mail is much lower tech than facebook!!!
but no worries - I'm really being lazy it's much easier for me if i get everything in one doc!
so it sounds like you were persuaded to change your views of the activists - how would you describe yourself - in th sense of "rate yourself from highly conventional (1)to off the scale (10)?
Did your experiences radicalise you?
did they significantly alter your persception ofGMP?
fair enough!
And yes I would say I had already had quite a dim view of police in their personal people skills but I never expected it to actually happen to somebody who was very obviously not taking part in the march (until forcibly persuaded into the march by this female officer I believe) or somebody who was not intentionally creating a scene or moving along at an intentionally slow pace
I'm a pretty normal person I'm ex army I'm a personal trainer and Bootcamp leader I run my own business I am a single father so yes very normal really
And this is the copper who pushed me into the disabled lady when the road bottle necked due to the parked van
I hope this helps buddy .
And no did not change my views of protesters just confirmed that the gmp were quite rough and it was aimed at anybody
So changed my views of the policeThird time lucky my fb keeps cutting off for some crazy reason....
I finally visited camp today, I was amazed at not only how ingenious the camp is and it's amenities but how welcoming and Informative everybody was!!!
The march took place and I was on time for it (unintentionally)!! I negated to observe the march from the sidelines and had an excellent view,
Unfortunately the event was marred by me being Manhandled on THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS,
BY THREE SEPARATE OFFICERS!!!
A female officer with brown hair asked me "Are you taking part in the march?" To which I responded negatively and stated I was just watching,
She then proceeded to grab my coat and push me into the march anyway...
Then two make officers grabbed my Bergen and throw me into the march.
As we approached a parked van the crowd bottlenecked as you would expect and this caused the group to slow consequently,
The officer behind me decided he wasn't having any of it and decided to push me by the Bergen into the disabled lady Infront of me!!
I turned and expressed my dissatisfaction and took his number (8886),
To which he was replaced by another officer.
Further down the line I stood and observed yet again;
At least 5 foot behind the border so as not to get manhandled again,
Low and behold a rather portly red headed copper then came up beside me and grabbed my arm yet again,
Due to the fact the march had already passed I shook him off and warned him I was standing and observing legally and that he should not touch me (camera in his face), he tugged once more and was then told to leave me alone by the other officers surrounding him. Then they came over and took pictures of me, taking pictures of them....
So I apologise to those who I critiqued for criticising the gmp previously,
I was literally observing from the sidelines and they approached me twice with tactical gloves on to increase their grip strength,
So it does happen to innocent parties!!!
Asides from that I watched them search through two amenity cupboards in the search for 'Locking on' equipment which is obviously a very useful too against them. It took them roughly 2/3 hours to execute the 'WARRANT' in these 'SHEDS' and after spending probably in excess of £50,000 they found ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.
Which was quite amusing and I took great delight in watching this after the treatment I had received earlier on.
There were no less than NINE Fun buses (gmp vans) and two squad cars, not including the foot patrol who must have numbered at least 30???
Anyway rant over,
Now I totally understand where the odious vibes for GMP are from...
I hope the kit I brought down prices useful and like I said earlier it was an addict pleasure meeting you all !!!!
